The Audemars Piguet Ref. 5402 A is one of the most influential, if not THE most important watch ever made. Gerald Genta's original design from 1972 forever changed the watch industry introducing the radical concept of the stainless steel luxury sports watch. It is considered by many purists to be the perfect steel watch, and this example lives up to that reputation.
What we have here is a 5402 A series (which are by far the most desirable) with all original parts --including an unpolished bracelet, dial, hands, and crown. When hunting for an A series (the first batch of 2,000 5402's made in 1972/3) the holy grail is to find an example in its unpolished original state and this is becoming increasingly difficult. This particular "A" series is a MUST-HAVE grail watch for any lover of vintage Audemars Piguet.
